A note on engagement.
Auto-quoting requires asking for sensitive personal information — date of birth, home address, drivers' license number, claim history, sometimes Social Security number — on a public webpage with a marketing-vendor data-handling chain the prospective client has no control over. We do not collect this information through a web form because we cannot guarantee its handling.
Replacement-program decisions cannot be made without reading the existing program. A quote produced without that reading is a guess — sometimes lower than the existing premium, sometimes higher, but always missing the structural questions that determine whether the program is properly assembled in the first place. The work of the firm is the reading, not the guessing.
The firm's work is conducted at conference tables, in offices, with declaration pages and endorsement schedules in front of us. A web form is the wrong instrument for that work. The form above exists to begin the conversation that produces the work — and nothing more.
